About St. Mary's Hospital

St. Mary's is a not-for-profit hospital serving the greater Richmond community for more than 40 years. We rank in the top 10 percent of America's hospitals for emergency care. This year we proudly accepted the accomplishment of reaching the prestigious Magnet status.

About Volunteering

Volunteering at St. Mary's Hospital can be a meaningful experience that provides opportunities to impact the lives of our patients and their families whether it be on a patient unit, one of our information desks that assists both patients and families, or the gift shop and flower shop where volunteers assist families with picking out those special times for their loved one who is ill.  There are also numerous opportunities for fellowship and camaraderie

We are a neighborhood hospital with a rich history. While some of our volunteers have been with us for over 40 years and have given thousands of hours of service, we have high school and college students exploring health care careers, working individuals who want to make a difference on a weekend or evening shift, empty nesters and those who are recently retired and want to do something meaningful with their new found time.

By volunteering with us, you will not only be working to help your community but joining the St. Mary's family and making St. Mary's connections with our patients and tremendously talented staff.

Volunteering Requirements

We invite anyone 15 years or older to be a volunteer with us. Volunteers must commit to at least 50 hours for at least 6 months. Weekend hours are available from 8:30 a.m. - 5p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Our evening hours go until 8 p.m.
