Learn about the types and stages of Cancer

When your child is sick, you want to do everything you can to make him or her feel better. This can become even more important — and more challenging — when your child is faced with a serious or life-threatening illness. Bon Secours is here to help. Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Care Services are now provided to Bon Secours pediatric patients in partnership with Noah's Children.

Serving Children and Their Families for More Than 10 Years

Noah's Children was established in 1997 as the first non-profit, licensed pediatric hospice in Central Virginia. In an effort to continue to offer and to expand the services provided to the community, Noah's Children became a service of Bon Secours Richmond Health System in September 2007. Noah's Children provides compassionate, high-quality nursing and medical care for children with progressive, life-limiting illnesses while also providing psychosocial, spiritual, and practical support to the entire family.

Interdisciplinary Team

The Professional Care Team provides a family-centered care plan with involvement by physicians, pediatric nurses, social workers, speech, physical or occupational therapists, spiritual counselors, and bereavement counselors. The primary goals of this team are pain and symptom control to enhance the quality of life for the child and family.

Referral and Eligibility

Anyone can refer a patient, but the child's primary physician must provide written orders for the services provided by Noah's Children.

Other Services

Noah's Children also provides Illness and Bereavement Support Services to include:

  • Counseling Services for individuals, families, or groups
  • Support Groups
  • Resource Center and Lending Library
  • Community Outreach

The Hospice and Palliative Care Services provided by Noah's Children, in partnership with the healthcare professionals of Bon Secours Richmond Health System, can make a big difference in your child's quality of life. Programs like this have been shown to provide the best care possible for serious illness, reduce pain and other symptoms, increase patient and family satisfaction, and ease the transition between hospitals and other healthcare settings.
