infectious diseases

Your health always is our top priority, especially when it comes to infectious diseases. Caused by germs, these infections can pass from person to person by the breath, touching, kissing, sexual contact and sharing food or drink. Animals and insect bites also can spread germs. Regardless of an infection’s source, Bon Secours’ medical professionals can help you prevent an illness or recover from one.

We know you have many responsibilities, and we can help with two of the most important – protecting your loves ones and yourself. We offer advice, screening, and treatment for many infections, ranging from yeast and sexually transmitted ones, to colds and influenza.

Women need to be especially aware of sexually transmitted infections, like HIV/AIDS and gonorrhea. While HIV has a stigma, it’s still important to understand it and to guard against it. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend an HIV test for every woman of childbearing age and those who are sexually active. Practicing safe sex is an easy way to prevent such infections.

We have a lot of information on preventing infection with colds and influenza, including H1N1, as well as treatment resources. Washing your hands thoroughly and often – and asking your family to do so too -- is one of the best ways to stay healthy.

We pride ourselves on offering women a comfortable, compassionate environment where you are heard and respected, and where you can receive exceptional, confidential care. Please call us for advice and information.
