Dr. Douglas Jessup specializes in the treatment, reconstruction, and total joint replacement of damaged hips and knees. He has performed more than 6,000 total joint replacement procedures. Throughout his career, Dr. Jessup has been actively involved in the orthopaedic community on a statewide and national scale. He has served as President of Virginia Orthopaedic Society, and was one of the original members of, and served on the board of directors of, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. While practicing as an orthopaedic surgeon, he has also been advisor to the implant industry on hip and knee implant and instrumentation design, as well as surgical technique. He has been a design team member of the Foundation Hip System, the Vanguard Complete Knee System, and the Echo Total Hip Stem. Dr. Jessup has spoken internationally and performed joint replacement surgery on four continents.
