In recognition of the month of August as National Breastfeeding Month, we’re celebrating some Bon Secours St. Francis Health System community efforts to support breastfeeding within the Upstate area.

Bon Secours identified the need for an on-site nursing suite at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena to give mothers a comfortable and private place to breastfeed, pump, or have a quiet moment with their little one. It is a place where moms can feel at home.

“This nursing suite is the first arena-based suite in South Carolina. We’re hoping it will set the example for other venues and companies,” says Jennifer Robinson, PR & Communications Manager.

The large room divided by privacy curtains includes recliners, a changing table, a sink, and a charging station for breast pumps and phones. The room is also equipped with a TV running in-game feeds to ensure moms can enjoy hockey games or similar events.

“In there you have so much privacy… you can still have that one on one time with your baby and not feel any shame or embarrassment… I think it’s a huge need,” says one Greenville mother of two.
