Top 5% in the Nation for Cardiac Services
We are honored to be named one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care by Healthgrades, and to have earned the Cardiac Care Excellence Award. According to HealthGrades, St. Francis is ranked among the top 5% in the nation for Cardiology Services, and among the top 10% for Overall Cardiac Services. In addition, Healthgrades named St. Francis as a Five-Star award recipient for Treatment of Heart Failure.
First Cath Lab in the U.S. Accredited for Cardiovascular Excellence
St. Francis earned the very first national accreditation by the Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE) for its cardiac catheterization laboratory and angioplasty/stenting program.
Designed to promote and uphold high-quality patient care and improve patient safety in facilities, ACE offers independent evaluation of facilities’ processes and objective peer review of outcomes based on established benchmarks derived from scientific evidence in peer-reviewed medical literature and national practice guidelines. Recent studies have shown accreditation improves patient outcomes and promotes progress toward enhanced patient safety standards. Applicants complete a comprehensive application followed by a site visit from ACE’s team of expert reviewers who assess the facility itself, its personnel, quality assurance and safety protocols, patient indications and outcomes.
We Treat Heart Attacks 3X Faster Than the National Standard
St. Francis Downtown currently treats heart attacks within an average of 32 minutes from the time the patient arrives at the hospital. The national standard is 90 minutes.
We also have received an award from the American Heart Association called the Mission: LifeLine Gold Quality Achievement Award that recognizes our success in providing the highest standard of care for heart attack patients. Hospitals who have received this award, like St. Francis Downtown, are shown to ensure heart attack patients get the right care as quickly as possible. The award also recognizes that we continually improve our systems for caring for heart attack patients and provide critical education and risk reducing therapies.
