The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is more than just exercise. It is a comprehensive approach to helping individuals with cardiovascular disease improve the quality of their lives through supervised exercise, lifestyle modification, and support.
Cardiac Fitness classes are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and include medically managed exercise programs and lifestyle counseling. Participants attend one-hour sessions three times a week for up to 36 sessions, depending on individual progress and concerns.
Studies show that people participating in cardiac rehab have a 20 to 30 percent reduction in all-cause mortality rates as well as other health benefits.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation team consists of highly qualified health professionals, including registered nurses, exercise physiologists, certified diabetes educators, and a registered dietitian. The program is overseen by a physician Medical Director who monitors safety, prescribes appropriate exercise, and participates in lifestyle modification counseling. The St. Francis HealThy Self Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is certified through the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, which sets strict standards of care for cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.
Candidates for Our Program
If you have been diagnosed with one of the following conditions and would like to take an active role in improving your health, this program may be right for you.
- Recent heart attack
- Coronary artery bypass or valve surgery
- Coronary angioplasty or stent placement
- Angina due to coronary artery disease
- Chronic heart failure
How to Participate
A physician’s referral is required to take part in the Cardiac Fitness program, so ask your doctor for a referral to the program. Once we receive the referral, we will contact you to schedule a pre-program interview appointment.
The program is covered by most insurance companies, including Medicare. Our staff will verify insurance coverage and arrange for pre-authorization of services, if necessary.
