There's one place where the comforts are greatest, where familiar surroundings actually become a healing tool, and where friends and family are nearby. For the sick, disabled, or terminally ill, this place is home.
St. Francis HomeCare combines the benefits of home with a range of healthcare services delivered in a caring and compassionate manner. Our health professionals are specially trained in caring for those in their homes. Acknowledged as a leading geriatric provider in the Upstate South Carolina region, our clinical staff members bring patients and their families expertise in specialized nursing care, physical, speech, and occupational therapies, as well as social and spiritual support.
Our services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurers. Patients will not be denied services based on their ability to pay. We serve patients in Greenville, Anderson, and Spartanburg, and Pickens County.
We are licensed and regulated by the State of South Carolina's Department of Health and Environmental Control and by the federal Medicare program. We also are accredited by the Joint Commission.
Home Health Services
St. Francis HomeCare provides specially trained professionals to administer the types of treatment and therapies that family members often can't. Our team consists of:
- Registered Nurses
- Nurses specializing in home infusion (or IV therapy)
- Home health aides
- Physical therapists
- Occupational therapists
- Speech-language pathologists
- Medical social workers
We assist family members in patient care, instructing them in the proper administration of medicines and the correct use of medical equipment. In addition, medical social workers are available to provide patients and family members with support, counseling and the coordination of financial and community resources.
Our registered nurses also can safely administer IV therapies to patients in their own homes, often allowing shorter hospital stays. Home infusion nurses also care for PICC-lines and MID-lines. Our nurses can offer detailed, hands-on-instructions via phone 24/7. Working in conjunction with the patient's physician, our home infusion program provides patients with a wide range of therapies, including:
- Antibiotic treatment
- Total parenteral nutrition
- Hydration fluids
- Pain management
Recognizing the importance of treating the whole patient, we integrate spirituality into patient care. The whole person is treated: body, mind, and spirit. Chaplains may visit patients in their homes to help them work through spiritual and religious issues and, when appropriate, accept, reconcile, and grieve diminished health, activity and independence.
Our interest in caring for the sick in their homes is deep rooted. Our sponsoring Sisters of Bon Secours served as the first organized home health organization in 1824 – caring for the sick in their homes. From this legacy and the organization that brought the first Parish Nurse Program to the state of South Carolina, St. Francis HomeCare brought the first Spiritual Care program to home health patients in the Upstate.
With a grant from The Duke Endowment, our Spiritual Care program has professional chaplains who offer spiritual care to all home health patients who are in need, as well as their family members and caregivers. They have specialized education and training to mobilize resources so these patients can cope more effectively with their illness or disease.
Because we realize that many people ask their pastors for information and assistance during times of illness, we provide educational programs and materials to church leaders and organizations throughout the Upstate. If you are interested in having someone from St. Francis HomeCare come and talk to your group, please call 864-233-5300.
Patient satisfaction is the hallmark of St. Francis HomeCare. We strive to ensure that our patients receive the best available care, from a perspective of both clinical competence and compassion and caring.
