To better meet our mission, Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System and its facilities – Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk, Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, and Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth – conducted community health needs assessments to help identify the most pressing healthcare needs and gaps in our communities.
The assessments give us a picture of the health status of the residents in Hampton Roads and provide us with information about health and health-related problems that impact the health status of our communities.
Our assessments include a review of population characteristics like age, educational experience, and racial and ethnic composition because these factors can impact health. The assessments also examine risk factors like obesity and smoking and health indicators such as infant mortality and preventable hospitalizations.
The community health needs assessments for each facility are being used as the foundation for hospital implementation strategies to address these priority needs through the Bon Secours Health System and our facilities, and we will continue to work to improve the health of the communities we serve and to bring good help to those in need.
