In order to apply for a volunteer position, you must be at least 18 years of age and out of high school. Please follow the directions from the information below.
If you are a full time student (14 years old through college age) looking for a short term volunteer opportunity you may be eligible for our Student Volunteer Program. The Student Volunteer Program is offered in the summer months and is specifically offered to high school and college students. Information about the student program will appear below the box that reads “Volunteer at Maryview Medical Center” when you click the arrow.
Adult Volunteering Requirements
Our adult volunteer program is designed to give you the opportunity to make a difference in your community. Pursuing volunteering means you are willing to be of help in the hospital in an area where there is need. Becoming a Volunteer is a series of steps and reading the handbook and completing the application is the beginning. We ask our volunteers make a commitment of time, a minimum of one 4-hour shift per week and see this as a long term commitment. Adult Volunteer applicants must be at least 18 years old and completed high school.
Adults who are students who wish to have hours kept for school purposes or those looking for work experience must volunteer a minimum of 170 hours before a reference or documentation of hours will be provided. The Volunteer Center at Maryview involves a serious commitment of time and dedication from each volunteer. You are encouraged to thoughtfully consider this commitment prior to applying. Bon Secours Maryview does not provide volunteer opportunities to satisfy mandated court-appointed service requirements.

How Do I Apply?
To begin the process of becoming a member of the Bon Secours Maryview volunteer team please complete these steps:
- Read the volunteer handbook.
Prior to completing the application all applicants are asked to read the volunteer handbook. The information in this handbook outlines requirements and information that will help you decide if becoming a Bon Secours Maryview Volunteer is appropriate for you. It will also serve as a reference for you in preparing for volunteer service, as well as while you are actively volunteering. Please read it carefully and become familiar with its contents.
- Complete the online application.
Once you click the "Continue" button at the end of the form the application is automatically sent to the volunteer director. You will get an automatic response of its delivery. You will receive another email soon after with interview information. Please make sure you put your current email address on the application.
- Attend an interview.
You will be invited to an interview with the Volunteer Director.
If you are selected as a volunteer at Bon Secours Maryview, there are some requirements before you can begin actively volunteering. These are explained in more detail and when they are due during your interview.
- Undergo a Turberculosis Skin Test (also known as PPD).
- Complete a background check.
- Complete our orientation.
- Participate in a probation period.
- Purchase and wear a uniform.
- Have a flu shot prior to flu season..
