OLBH family practitioner Kari Shields, M.D. has received the 2018 Healthcare Partner Award from the Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities (KAHCF).
The Healthcare Partner Award is given annually to a medical director, dietician, pharmacist, therapist, nurse practitioner or physician assistant honoring them for work in providing quality care, with demonstrated evidence of the effort. Shields received the honor for her efforts in facilitating the relationship between OLBH and its providers and area skilled nursing centers, leading to improvement in quality. Shields accepted her award at the KAHCF Quality Awards Banquet in Louisville Nov. 15.
Shields is in practice at Bellefonte Primary Care in Grayson (100 Bellefonte Drive). She is a graduate of the University Of Louisville School Of Medicine and completed an internship and residency at Marshall University. Shields is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and is a certified medical director. Shields also serves as the medical director and/or attending physician in several area skilled nursing and long term care facilities and visits elderly patients in their homes at the Christian Care Community apartments in Grayson.
