Dr. Cane, a pioneer in laparoscopic surgeries, is nationally recognized for his training to other physicians on groundbreaking minimally invasive procedures for women. He performed the first laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy in Virginia in 1990 and is an expert in his field. Dr. Cane is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, and his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Howard University. He has been in private practice in Richmond since 1979. In 1987, he limited his practice to gynecologic diseases treated by advanced operative laparoscopy and advanced operative hysteroscopy.
