Dr. Mark Monahan earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his surgery and urology residencies at the University of Florida School of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. He is a member of the American Urological Association, Endourological Society, Medical Society of Virginia, Mid-Atlantic Sectional of the American Urological Association, and the Richmond Academy of Medicine. Dr. Monahan’s special interests include laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, robotic renal surgery, kidney cancer, stone disease, and ureteropelvic junction obstruction. Dr. Monahan is certified in urology by the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Monahan is very active in the Richmond community. He served as the Vice Chairman of the City of Richmond Advisory Board of Health and was Chief of Staff at St. Francis Medical Center. In addition, he was a Trustee at the Richmond Academy of Medicine and currently serves as co-chair of the Academy's Legislative Committee. He recently has been a guest columnist for the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
