Bon Secours has selected George Kleb to serve as the executive director of Bon Secours Community Works. Kleb has served in a variety of roles and leadership positions during his 33-year tenure with Bon Secours, including most recently serving as the leader of Unity Properties, Bon Secours’ affordable housing corporation in Baltimore.
“George is uniquely positioned to serve as our executive director. He leads with humility, compassion, and integrity and has an uncompromising record of placing the hopes and values of our community and neighborhood leaders at the center of our work,” said David Belde, vice president of Community Health for Bon Secours Mercy Health. “His understanding of the Mission of Bon Secours and our health ministry’s rich history in the market, as well as the depth of his connections and track record of achievement provide a firm foundation for his successful leadership of Bon Secours Community Works.”
In this role, Kleb will report to Belde and will oversee all strategy, operations, partner and community engagement, and program performance and development for Bon Secours Baltimore. Bon Secours Community Works serves an average of 4,000 community members annually by providing programs, services and affordable housing designed to improve the social determinants of health and uplift West Baltimore residents and families.
“I’m excited about what lies ahead for Community Works and the communities that we serve,” said Kleb. “We have a lot of work to do, but we are blessed with a dedicated staff and board, longstanding community relationships, and a just Mission that is rooted in an incredible health ministry. I look forward to building on the important work Bon Secours has done in the West Baltimore community for more than 140 years.”
Most recently, Kleb served as the leader of Unity Properties where he was responsible for the overall administration, direction and operations of all housing programs including the development of more than 800 housing units that provide safe, stable, and affordable housing in West Baltimore for more than 1,200 residents.
With his tenure spanning more than three decades, Kleb will bring a wealth of knowledge to his role as executive director that will help grow and advance Bon Secours Community Works’ Mission of enriching West Baltimore communities through programs and services that contribute to long-term economic and social viability of neighborhoods.
Kleb holds a Bachelor of Arts from Western Maryland College and a Certificate in Housing and Community Development from the University of Maryland.
