Bon Secours Names New Greenville Market President
Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, part of Bon Secours Mercy Health, announced today that Matt Caldwell has been named president of the health system’s Greenville market, effective April 29, 2019. Caldwell has served as president of the Mercy Health — Springfield, Ohio market since 2016.
Caldwell will oversee operations, quality, service and growth goals for the St. Francis Downtown and St. Francis Eastside hospitals and the health system’s medical campus, which includes St. Francis Millennium and St. Francis Cancer Center. His collaborative leadership style and commitment to operational excellence will advance growth in the Greenville market, with an emphasis on excellent patient care that will enable Bon Secours to serve the community well into the future.

As he steps into this new role, Caldwell will work closely with the board, physician and market-level leadership to ensure a smooth transition.
Caldwell is uniquely qualified to understand the role of caregivers in a successful health care environment, having started his own career in health care as a nurse. During his career, he served in critical care, post-operative care, recovery care and as a case manager. In Springfield, he spearheaded a ministry-wide emergency department collaborative, focused on standardizing patient experience in emergency departments across the ministry.

Prior to his time at Bon Secours Mercy Health, Caldwell spent four years as CEO of Tennova Healthcare. He previously served as CEO of Dallas Regional Medical Center and has health care leadership experience at other Texas hospitals in a variety of roles, including chief operating officer, chief nursing officer, and vice president of patient care support.
Caldwell holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Texas at Arlington and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas.
