Bon Secours is proud to announce it has earned accreditation as a bronze level Geriatric Emergency Department (GED) from the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), making it the first and only accredited geriatric emergency department in the Upstate.
This prestigious recognition highlights the hospital’s commitment to providing the highest quality emergency care tailored specifically for older adults. With this accreditation, Bon Secours joins an elite group of healthcare institutions that have demonstrated excellence in geriatric emergency care, ensuring seniors receive well-coordinated, specialized treatment in a setting designed to meet their unique needs.
“The accreditation reflects the hospital’s dedication to improving patient outcomes, enhancing emergency department processes, and facilitating seamless transitions of care,” said Greta Gue, MSN, RN, Administrative Director of Emergency Services at Bon Secours. “As the first and only accredited facility in the Upstate, we are setting a new standard for geriatric emergency medicine, ensuring that older adults receive the expert care and attention they deserve.”
Patients have 24-hour access to state-of-the-art technology and board-certified emergency medicine staff trained to deliver high-quality, immediate care for a range of emergency medical needs at Bon Secours St. Francis Downtown and Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside hospitals. The health care organization also has a freestanding emergency department in Simpsonville, and construction is also underway on a second freestanding emergency department, set to open in Five Forks next year.
