Bon Secours St. Francis Health System is excited to announce the opening of its newest point of care, Bon Secours Primary Care – Pelham Road. Located in Suite B at 2 Maple Tree Ct. in Greenville, this site offers health care for the whole family. However, it is unique from the health system’s 25 other primary care offices in that it will work in partnership with its neighboring clinic, Bon Secours OB-GYN (Suite A), to put a special emphasis on addressing women’s health needs.
“OB/GYNs are often seen as the gatekeeper to women’s health, but there are limitations in using a specialist for all your health care needs. This new primary care practice and its proximity to our existing clinic will allow us to work together so we can further enhance all aspects of women’s health care by offering more comprehensive care in the most convenient way possible,” said Dr. Rebecca Iskandar, who is now seeing patients at the new location.
The idea to partner up this new clinic with the existing women’s clinic next door came about after health care leaders noticed a trend – numerous patients showing up for their annual gynecology visit only to need a referral for health needs outside of their physician’s scope of expertise. The new clinic will help by giving those women an appropriate care option right next door, in some cases allowing them to receive the treatment they’re seeking on the same day.
“Some gynecologic problems are manifestations of other medical conditions. You might get treatment from an OB where a primary care provider may be better at recognizing and helping to address the underlying problem. We just want to open that line of communication and combine the expertise of both fields to provide patients with the best care possible.”
Dr. Rebecca Iskandar, who specializes in family medicine, is the primary care provider for patients at the new office, which features six exam rooms. The goal is to add a second provider at this location in the future as patient volume grows.
Bon Secours Primary Care – Pelham Road will operate on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To learn more or make an appointment, visit bonsecours.com or call 864-516-1150.
