Bon Secours Hampton Roads is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan George as the new President of Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital. George officially assumes his position Monday, June 26, and will be responsible for leading the Newport News hospital and ensuring its continued success.
With a distinguished career spanning over 30 years in health care leadership, George joins Bon Secours from ScionHealth where he served as the chief operating officer for St. Francis - Emory Healthcare in Columbus, Georgia. George also brings extensive experience as a chief executive officer of community hospitals in Texas and Georgia.
"I am thrilled to join Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital and have the opportunity to lead such a respected institution in providing exceptional health care to the Newport News and Peninsula community,” said George. “I look forward to working alongside the talented team of health care professionals and contributing to the hospital's continued success in delivering on its mission of providing compassionate care and making a positive impact on the lives of our patients."
In his new role, George will report to Pat Davis-Hagens, Market President, Bon Secours Hampton Roads. As President of Bon Secours - Mary Immaculate Hospital, George will lead the hospital with a focus on driving excellence in health care delivery and furthering the hospital's mission of providing compassionate care to the community.
Davis-Hagens expressed her excitement about George joining the team, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome Alan to Hampton Roads and to Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital. His extensive experience and proven leadership will be invaluable in driving the hospital's success and furthering our commitment to providing exceptional care to the community."
George’s appointment is the latest leadership announcement for Bon Secours Hampton Roads, which in March announced that Shane Knisley would lead Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth as president. Additionally, earlier in June, the health system announced that Andy Spicknall would lead Bon Secours Harbour View Hospital (under construction) in Suffolk.
George is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a Certified Professional in Patient Safety. He earned his master's degrees in business and health administration from the University of Houston, and his bachelor's degree in marketing/management from Stephen F. Austin State University
