Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center is excited to announce the successful completion of its topping out ceremony, a pivotal moment in the construction, underscoring the commitment to enhancing health care services for the community.

The ceremony, held on December 14, 2023, included the construction crew lifting the final steel beam, decorated with signatures from doctors, nurses, associates and community members, marking the conclusion of the structural framework of the facility.

Reflecting on the significance of this milestone, Andy Spicknall, President, Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center, said, "The topping out ceremony was a symbol of the collective efforts that brought us to this exciting milestone in the construction of Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center. We were thrilled to gather and witness the steel beam, adorned with the signatures of those dedicated to our Mission, be added to the skeleton of the facility.”

Bon Secours continues to address the needs of the Western Hampton Roads community to provide the best quality of care. In fact, Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View was established as the first health system in the area to respond to population growth in Hampton Roads.

Spicknall continued, “This ceremony represented not just a construction milestone but a tangible expression of our unwavering dedication to the community. We look forward to the positive impact this new facility will have on the health and well-being of the residents we are privileged to serve."

The journey leading to this topping out ceremony began with the groundbreaking in October 2022. The new 98,000 square-foot facility signifies an expansion of services offered at Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View campus, integrating the established free-standing emergency department, imaging center, and lab into a comprehensive medical facility. The hospital will include 18 medical/surgical beds and four operating rooms.

This project is set to elevate health care standards for the community, providing residents with access to compassionate, quality care close to home. The topping out ceremony not only marked the completion of the structural framework but also symbolized progress and the commitment to delivering quality health care to the community.

Bon Secours Harbor View Medical Center celebrated this milestone with the community, eagerly anticipating the positive transformations the new facility would bring to the Suffolk and Western Hampton Roads health care landscape.

Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center will join other hospitals in the Bon Secours Hampton Roads market including Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, and Bon Secours Southampton Medical Center in Franklin.
