Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital recently launched a comprehensive pelvic floor program that aligns the pelvic floor services and providers that serve at the hospital, including physical therapy, obstetrics, gynecology, colorectal surgery and urology. The program ranges from general therapeutic care to surgical interventions.

Millions of Americans suffer from pelvic floor dysfunction. Yet, for most, the disease goes unidentified and untreated. Pelvic floor dysfunction may include but is not limited to:

  • Pelvic pain or pressure
  • Abdominal pain
  • Urinary incontinence (leakage)
  • Urinary frequency
  • Painful urination
  • Constipation or IBS
  • Pregnancy pain management (Pre- and postpartum)

“We are so proud to have officially launched a pelvic floor program at Mary Immaculate Hospital,” said Bailey Myers, director of operations at Mary Immaculate Hospital. “It has been an honor to have partnered with our talented physical therapists and surgeons over the past year and to see this program officially come to life.”

The team consists of up to six seasoned pelvic health therapists that treat women, men and young pediatric and adolescent patients.

“Unfortunately, many people live with pelvic floor disorders without getting treatment," Myers continued. “It is our goal to ensure our community knows about the pelvic floor treatments and interventions that can truly help improve one’s quality of life. Our team at Mary Immaculate is able to help and make our patients feel comfortable, supported and taken care of along the way.”
