Bon Secours Richmond Hospitals Receive High Marks for Patient Safety in Fall 2018 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

Richmond, Va. (Nov. 8, 2018) – Bon Secours Richmond Health System announced today that Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, Va. and Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Va. were recognized with an “A” Hospital Safety Grade, a standard measure of patient safety, by The Leapfrog Group in their fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grades. Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Va. received a “B” Hospital Safety Grade.

The Leapfrog Group is a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health care system. Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades of A, B, C, D and F are assigned to more than 2,500 U.S. hospitals across the nation twice annually, once in the fall and once in the spring. These facilities received high marks from Leapfrog in the past, sustaining top-notch performance over time.

The grade represents a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. The Safety Grade includes 27 measures, all currently in use by national measurement and reporting programs.
