Bon Secours has acquired Tuckahoe Orthopaedics, one of the oldest private orthopedic practices in the central Virginia area. Tuckahoe Orthopaedics will now operate as part of Bon Secours Medical Group. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Tuckahoe Orthopaedics is a highly respected, local orthopedic practice that has provided quality care in Richmond for more than 40 years. Tuckahoe Orthopaedics is not only known for its quality of care, but also for its fellowship-trained physicians, deep orthopedic experience and specialization in pediatric orthopedics, foot and ankle, hand and upper extremity, joint replacement, spine, arthroscopy and sports medicine. The practice has been affiliated with Bon Secours for many years, with its physicians performing surgeries and maintaining office space in Richmond area Bon Secours hospitals.
“We are thrilled to officially welcome Tuckahoe Orthopaedics to Bon Secours Medical Group and to our compassionate ministry,” said Faraaz Yousuf, market president, Bon Secours Richmond. “Tuckahoe Orthopaedics has provided quality care for thousands of patients in the area over their many years, and we look forward to extending the many benefits that a community health system can offer not only their patients, but their staff as well.”
The acquisition brings multiple benefits to area patients and consumers, including easier sharing of electronic medical records, coordinated care of patients and increased efficiency, as well as enhanced continuity of care. Patients will be able to access comprehensive electronic medical records, schedule appointments, request refills of prescriptions and view laboratory and other test results through Bon Secours MyChart. Patients will also have greater access to a network of health care providers and services, including MRI, primary care, orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, home health and outpatient rehabilitation, along with the latest technology for spine and joint procedures.
“We are excited to join Bon Secours Medical Group where we will continue providing the highest quality orthopedic care to our patients, as we have for more than 40 years,” said Jed Vanichkachorn, M.D., president, Tuckahoe Orthopaedics. “Being part of the enhanced care network of Bon Secours provides enhanced access to many new resources and increased efficiencies for our patients. We are looking forward to this next chapter.”
Tuckahoe Orthopaedics’ long history of community and mission involvement has many points of alignment with Bon Secours’ faith-based, nonprofit ministry. Physicians with Tuckahoe Orthopaedics participate in mission trips, work closely with local organizations and programs to provide assistance for under or uninsured patients and are active in nonprofit and professional organization programs around the area.
As part of the acquisition, Tuckahoe Orthopaedics’ existing practice locations will not change.
