Bon Secours today announced Brenda Woodcock has been appointed to the position of president, Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Va., and Bon Secours Southern Virginia Medical Center in Emporia, Va. Woodcock is the first female president of these facilities and assumes her new position on Monday, Oct. 9.
Woodcock joined Bon Secours in 2016 and has advanced through many roles, most recently serving as Richmond market chief nursing officer (CNO) overseeing nursing operations for 7 acute care hospitals, nursing and medical imaging programs and numerous related healthcare services.
Promoted into this role in December 2020, Brenda has been involved in market and system strategy teams around workforce including recruitment, retention and workforce development. She also serves as the Executive Sponsor for Workplace Safety and Behavioral Health in the Bon Secours Richmond market, leading strategies and initiatives around Workplace Violence and Injury Prevention; as well as expanding resources for our patients and communities suffering from Mental Health.
In her new role, Woodcock will be responsible for the overall operational success of these two hospitals, while focusing on compassionate, innovative, convenient, high-quality patient care.
“It’s an honor to continue my service to this ministry in a new capacity and work with our physicians, associates and community partners to serve the distinct needs of our patients both in and around Petersburg, the Tri-city area and in Emporia,” said Woodcock. “I am delighted to lead the effort of meeting the changing needs of these communities we serve.”
Woodcock earned her undergraduate degree and master's degree in nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Doctor of Nursing practice from Liberty University.
Woodcock currently serves on number of VHHA committees and local nursing program advisory boards.
