Bon Secours has named Cassie Lewis, DNP, as chief nursing officer for the Bon Secours Richmond market, effective Feb. 11. Lewis has served the Bon Secours ministry in a variety of nursing leadership roles for more than a decade, including most recently serving as chief nursing and quality officer for Bon Secours’ Hampton Roads market.
“Cassie is a strong leader who has a deep understanding of not only nursing and quality operations, but of Bon Secours’ Richmond market as well,” said Mike Lutes, president of Bon Secours Richmond. “This, coupled with her commitment to the Mission, will provide a strong foundation for her to serve as chief nursing officer in Richmond. We are excited to welcome her back.”
In this role, Lewis will report to Lutes and is responsible for overseeing the delivery of nursing operations for the market, which includes oversight of bedside care, nursing quality and nursing practices for Bon Secours Richmond. Since joining Bon Secours in 2012, Lewis has served in a variety of roles at both the market and system levels, including most recently serving as the chief nursing and quality officer for Bon Secours Hampton Roads. Prior to that she served as chief nursing and quality officer for several of Bon Secours Mercy Health’s markets located in Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky, as regional director of advanced practice, and as lead nurse practitioner and co-medical director of the adult hospitalist department for Bon Secours St. Mary’s in Richmond, Va.
“Nurses are the heart and soul of the health care system. It’s no surprise that nursing has changed over the last several years, and yet, our nurses continue to show up at the bedside and answer the call to serve the community, each and every day,” Lewis said. “I am passionate about supporting our nursing practice and also furthering the Mission of Bon Secours, so I’m thrilled to be returning to Richmond where I started my tenure with Bon Secours.”
Lewis earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, her master’s degree from the University of Virginia and her doctorate degree in nursing practice from Old Dominion University.
