Bon Secours leaders broke ground today on a new three-story, 87,790 square-foot medical office building on the campus of Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center. Located in rapidly growing Chesterfield County, this new facility will allow Bon Secours to expand access to outpatient services, enhance specialty care offerings and establish a new ambulatory surgery center designed to better meet the health care needs of the community.
“Bon Secours has been providing quality, compassionate care to the Chesterfield County community for the past twenty years. We are proud to continue investing in the St. Francis campus and enhancing the care we offer patients across the region,” said Joe Wilkins, president, Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center. “This project reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding access to the right level of care close to home.”
The new building will include an ambulatory surgery center (ASC), developed in partnership with Compass Surgical Partners, offering two operating rooms and one procedure room. In addition, Bon Secours plans to provide services including neurology, cardiology, general surgery, and family medicine services within the building.
Bon Secours is developing the project in partnership with Remedy Medical Properties and Kayne Anderson Real Estate, the nation’s largest private owner of healthcare real estate. The facility was designed by PSH Plus with Kjellstrom & Lee serving as general contractor and Timmons Group providing civil engineering support.
“Our ministry’s mission is to bring good help to those in need, and that includes making sure our facilities grow and evolve alongside the communities we serve,” Wilkins added. “With this new medical office building and ASC, we’re ensuring that we’ll be ready to care for our aging and growing population for years to come.”
The new medical office building will be located at the corner of Charter Colony and Bon Secours Drive, across from the main hospital at 13710 St. Francis Boulevard, Midlothian, VA. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2026.
