Bon Secours in French means “good help." Volunteers have the opportunity to help serve our patients and the community. This satisfying experience may range from assisting patients and their families to helping with office filing. Volunteers are placed in areas where they can best assist throughout the health system. Our volunteers range in age from 15 to 90 and are students, church, community and social group members and retirees. If you are interested, we welcome your assistance. It has been said: “Bon Secours is a good place to serve the Lord.”

“Volunteering at Bon Secours has been an extremely rewarding experience. From seeing the emergency department to St. Martin’s inpatient unit, I have been able to witness a microcosm of the West Baltimore community. In the midst of sometimes frustrating circumstances, clinicians here manage to maintain composure and optimism.

I have learned that understanding and treating a patient is often deeper than illness. Cultural identity, lifestyle, and emotional states are just as important as their medical history. As I envision my future career as a physician, my time at Bon Secours will forever guide the way I approach the medical profession - a platform for service, leadership, and the advancement of compassionate healthcare for all.”
