For the past 10 years, since moving to Richmond, I have been frustrated by the primary care physicians I have tried. They have been kind professionals, but they have tended to project a confidence-undermining aura of burnout, distraction, or disorganization. They barely have time for patient contact. And their staff have not always been attentive or helpful either. I have compassion for how hard the job must bebut it's frustrating. Against that decade of frustration: enter Dr. Gonzalez. He offered an unprecedented level of care. He listened carefully. He engaged fully. He educated me. He took time. He answered my questions in a kind, easy-to-understand way. Nikki provided that same level of time and care, too. I left the experience feeling hopeful, my faith in medicine as a healing profession restored, along with my belief that top-level patient care in Richmond is possible.
