Meet Dr. Dyer
As a Hanover County native, I enjoy practicing orthopedics in Richmond. I specialize in arthroscopy and sports medicine working on just about every joint. My love for orthopedics stems from my sports background playing soccer at Virginia Tech. This experience fostered my passion for providing orthopedic coverage for local sports events. From Richmond to the Northern Neck, I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to my community.

About
Dr. Dustin C. Dyer is a member of the Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Team at Bon Secours -Tuckahoe Orthopedics. He received his medical degree from the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. Dr. Dyer completed his orthopedic surgery residency through the Pinnacle Health Hospital System in Harrisburg, PA. He then went on to complete his Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine fellowship at Orthopaedic Research of Virginia in Richmond. (A fellowship is a specialized year of training that a physician chooses to pursue after completing an orthopedic surgical residency.)
Dr. Dyer and his medical staff primarily treat patients with knee, elbow, and shoulder injuries. His patients range in age from the younger athlete with traumatic sports injuries to the more mature patient with overuse injuries. He also treats injured workers.
The majority of orthopedic ailments can be treated without surgery through the use of physical therapy and rehabilitation. When surgery is required, a less invasive surgery called arthroscopy is often used. Surgeries such as ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, rotator cuff repair and shoulder stabilizations are a few surgeries facilitated by arthroscopy. Some patients will require more invasive surgery in order to return to a more active lifestyle. Dr. Dyer performs total shoulder replacements and reverse total shoulder replacements for patients in need.
Dr. Dyer is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, the American Medical Association, and the American Osteopathic Association.
Dr. Dyer is actively involved in the community and serves as Team Physician for King William High School and Henrico High School.
Dr. Dyer grew up in Hanover County and attended Patrick Henry High School. He was an NCAA Academic All-American soccer player at Virginia Tech, where he majored in Biology. He enjoys spending time with his wife Ragan and their three daughters, Caroline, Lettie, and Page. He also enjoys recreational sports, golf, hunting and fishing. He is currently Board Certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
