Dr. Jason R. Hull is a member of the Joint Replacement team at Bon Secours -Tuckahoe Orthopedics. He specializes in adult reconstruction of the hip and knee, which includes treatment of hip and knee problems arising from arthritis and other inflammatory conditions, injuries and trauma, and some congenital/developmental conditions. He is skilled and experienced in performing minimally invasive total hip replacement (including anterior total hip replacement), minimally invasive total knee replacement, complex hip and knee replacement, revision hip and knee replacement, and partial knee replacement. Dr. Hull has been a frequent Richmond Magazine “Top Doc” award recipient, and most recently was named a 2024 Virginia Top Doctor by Virginia Business Magazine.

Dr. Hull earned his medical degree from Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 1999. After completing his orthopaedic surgery residency at VCU, he was awarded a fellowship in adult reconstruction of the hip and knee at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. After completion of his fellowship training, he returned to VCU to start his orthopaedic practice, where he served on the faculty in the department of orthopaedic surgery for seven years. During his time at VCU, Dr. Hull established a busy clinical practice in hip and knee reconstruction and orthopaedic trauma while teaching medical students and training orthopaedic residents and hip/knee reconstruction fellows. While at VCU, he was a recipient of the Kenneth Davis, MD award for teaching excellence in the orthopaedic surgery residency program.

Dr. Hull transitioned his practice to Tuckahoe Orthopaedics in 2012. He and his staff are dedicated and committed to providing the highest quality medical and surgical care in hip and knee replacement. This starts with a patient-centered approach that educates patients about their condition and available treatment options, both non-surgical and surgical, and facilitates treatment plans tailored to individual patients and their unique lifestyles.

Dr. Hull continues to participate in academic and service-related activities in orthopaedic surgery. He has published several peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters. He was awarded a position in the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) Emerging Leaders Program in 2014, and served on the AAHKS Hip Arthroplasty Work Group that developed the Primary Hip Arthroplasty Performance Measurement Set in 2016. These measures evaluate outcomes and appropriate preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care of the hip replacement patient. Dr. Hull continues to participate in academic activities with AAHKS.

Dr. Hull grew up in Richmond. He is a graduate of the University of Richmond, where he majored in chemistry and played football before suffering a “career ending” knee injury that spawned his

interest in orthopaedic surgery. He enjoys spending quality time with his family, church fellowship and mission activities, and many outdoor activities including fly fishing, hunting, and golf.
