When I was choosing a specialty for the focus of my graduate education, I realized how much I loved working with people to improve their overall health. With its emphasis on self-management, people with diabetes have to examine their health-related practices, learn strategies to improve those practices and establish relationships with providers so they can achieve better health outcomes.
