Join us Saturday, April 1, 2017 for the Bon Secours Colon Cancer Awareness 5K and 1-Mile Fun Walk, presented by TowneBank.

Proceeds will be donated to the Bon Secours Maryview Foundation Cancer Fund to provide care for colon cancer patients.


Racers can sign up individually or in teams of at least three people. Each team member will receive a $5 discount on race registration. Awards will be given to the fastest teams, the top female and top male runners. Click here to register.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I get for my entry fee?
All 5K participants will receive a short sleeve technical shirt and are invited to the post-race festivities!  Be sure to bring your race number to the post-race party as it is your ticket for food.

What is the entry fee? 
The cost is $30 in advance. Teams of 3 or more people can register for $25 each in advance. Day-of registration is $35.

What time does the race begin?
Registration is from 6:30 am to 7:55 am. The walk begins at 8 am. The race begins at 8:30 am. 

What are the age limits for the races?

There are no age limits. We encourage participants of all ages to join us. 

Are the races walker-friendly?
Yes, we will have plenty of participants who will walk.  The 5K course will be open for 60 minutes, which equates to a 20 minute per mile pace. 

Will I receive a refund if I cannot attend?    
Since the purpose of this race is to raise money for treating colon cancer we are not able to offer refunds or transfers – NO exceptions. It is imperative that the registration data associated with your race number belongs to you, the participant.  

Can someone else run with my number? 
If race organizers become aware that a runner has participated in this of our events with a bib that is not registered to that runner, both the runner and the person for whom the bib is registered may be prohibited from participating in local racing events.

Are baby joggers or strollers allowed during the race?
Yes, they are allowed, but if you choose to run with a baby jogger, you must position yourself in the last corral, behind all other runners.  It is your responsibility to make sure your baby jogger does not impede other runners, and you must take extra precaution to ensure your safety, your child’s safety, and the safety of others around you.  We reserve the right to pull any person from the race who is endangering other runners or themselves.

Are pets allowed during the race?
No, pets are not allowed. This is to ensure runner safety and comply with liability insurance policies. Service animals are permitted. 

Are headphones allowed during the race?

Headphones are allowed.  

Will there be corrals?  
Yes, there will be corrals this year to ensure that the race is as enjoyable for all participants as possible.  

Are there teams this year? 
Yes, there is a minimum of three people needed to form a team. Each member of a team will receive a $5 discount on registration.
Will the race be cancelled if it rains?
The race is a rain or shine event. The start may be delayed if there is lightning or high winds. 

Will there be water stops?
Yes, there will be two water stops.

Where can we park for the races?
The parking lot for race day is across the street from the Emergency Department, on the left side of Bon Secours Way.

When can I pick up my packet and race bib? 

You can pick up your packet on Friday, March 31 from 3:30 - 6 pm or Saturday, April 1 from 6:30 - 7:55 am.

Can I register on race day?
We will have race day registration. However, registration will close promptly at 7:55 am. Our recommendation is to sign up in advance to ensure that you can participate.   

Do you take credit cards for registration on Saturday?
We accept cash, checks and credit cards for registration.
Will there be an awards ceremony?
There will be an awards ceremony for the race at approximately 9:30 a.m. 

How will the awards be structured?
The top male and female runners will be recognized. There will also be an award for fastest team.
