Bon Secours Harbour View Hospital

Bon Secours Harbour View Hospital

Bon Secours Harbour View Hospital is approved.

Great news!  Recently we learned that the State Health Commissioner approved Bon Secours’ Certificate of Public Need application to transfer 18 acute-care beds and four operating rooms from Bon Secours Maryview to the Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View.  With this final approval from the Virginia Health Department, Bon Secours can now move forward with our plans to develop our short-stay, surgically focused hospital in north Suffolk.

This is a very positive development for both our community and our health system. We are delighted that the State Health Commissioner agrees that our strategy to build a hospital on the Bon Secours Harbour View campus is the best approach for ensuring that the health care needs of our community are met and will help to ensure that the Bon Secours Ministry in Western Hampton Roads continues to be a vibrant one.

Our next step will be a comprehensive planning phase followed by a groundbreaking later this year. We anticipate construction to take approximately 18 – 24 months.

Thank you to everyone who signed petitions and wrote letters supporting this important development. Your voice helped to make this approval possible and helped to provide us the opportunity to continue our Mission of being good help to the communities we serve.
