Just as cancer is not one disease, but a group of diseases, Cancer Care at Bellefonte is not a single entity. At OLBH, we view cancer care as a team effort. From cancer surgery to cancer support groups, each member of the OLBH accredited cancer care program is a knowledgeable and experienced professional who has access to the latest and safest treatment information regarding cancer care.
OLBH’s cancer program is accredited with commendation by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons. OLBH also maintains a special nursing unit dedicated to oncology services. The Emmanuel Unit incorporates holistic care as a part of patient healing. The care is designed to treat the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.
OLBH offers cancer screening programs for early detection of skin, prostate, and breast cancers. These screenings take place at primary care centers, physician offices, and other locations throughout the community. OLBH also offers a smoking cessation program for those who wish to quit smoking. For more information on free screenings or other cancer-related services, please call the OLBH CareLine at (606) 833-CARE (2273) or via e-mail.
