What is pediatric neurology?
Pediatric neurology is a medical specialty serving children with neurological disorders. Child neurologists combine expertise in neurology and pediatrics to diagnose and treat disorders of the brain and spinal cord. Pediatric neurologists are trained to recognize neurological disorders in childhood and to attend to the special needs of the child and his or her family. At Bon Secours, we understand that children and their families require special care.
What conditions do pediatric neurologists treat?
Pediatric neurologists are trained to recognize neurological disorders in children. This includes (but is not limited to):
- Tics
- Stroke
- Headaches
- Cerebral palsy
- Epilepsy (seizure)
- Neurofibromatosis
- Tuberous sclerosis
- Tourette’s syndrome
Emergencies
For emergencies, our physicians are available to you 24 hours a day by calling our main office. After hours, you will be transferred to our on-call physician service. If at any time you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
