  • A separate emergency entrance just for pediatric patients, with 14 state-of-the-art examination rooms, and a Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
  • Designed to be comfortable for children, with a kid- and family-friendly environment that includes features like an interactive butterfly wall and iPads loaded with game.


Our Locations

The pediatric emergency room entrance is located at St. Mary’s Hospital, near Monument and Libbie Avenues in Richmond. With a separate entrance and a separate waiting room, our pediatric emergency department also provides free parking and sleeping chairs for overnight visits.

Within St. Mary’s pediatric emergency room, you’ll find a complete team of experts dedicated to helping your child feel as comfortable as possible during treatment, while alleviating parental stress as well. In addition to standard medical training, our Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) physicians are trained in acute care for infants, babies, children and teens. And at St. Mary’s, you also have access to pediatric specialists from the entire Bon Secours network.

Combating Crohn's and Colitis in Children, with Dr. Bart Rountree

 After receiving his medical degree from the University of Texas School of Medicine, Dr. Rountree completed his pediatric residency, in addition to his pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition fellowship, at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Fluent in Spanish as well as English, Dr. Rountree is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology.
