Complete health for women goes well beyond childbirth needs. We are happy to share these links and general guidelines on common screenings for women, to help you locate the resources you or someone you love may need to learn about our medical facilities, tests and services.

Women’s Services - Women should plan annual visits for physical examinations (blood pressure, BMI, etc.), eye exams, flu shot, and pelvic/breast exams. Visit our Women's Services page for more information.

Lactation Counseling

We understand that sometimes you still have questions about breastfeeding and how your baby is eating after you’ve been discharged from the hospital. Even if you already have selected a pediatrician, you can schedule a lactation focused appointment with a certified lactation counselor by calling 804-730-4690. Lactation counseling is provided at the Bon Secours Pediatrics of Mechanicsville office, located at 7347 Bell Creek Road, Suite 100, Mechanicsville, VA, 23111. Typical hours available for appointments include Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m and Saturday from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. for sick visits.

Insurances accepted include Medicaid, Optima, Tricare, Humana, Cigna, Virginia Premier, and Aetna. Please contact your insurance provider as needed with any additional questions about your coverage.

Postpartum Depression & Anxiety Support

Anxiety and depression affect up to 1 in 5 women during pregnancy or the first year postpartum.  They are caused by changes in biology, psychology, hormones, and environment.

In partnership with Postpartum Support Virginia, these support groups are open to anyone!  Meet other mothers, learn coping skills and identify resources. Babies are welcome, of course!
