Mike Lutes
Market President

As market president for Bon Secours Richmond, Mike Lutes is responsible for seven acute-care hospitals in Richmond, the Northern Neck, Petersburg and Emporia which support a full-range of services, including Centers of Excellence in cardiac surgery, women’s and children’s services, orthopedics, bariatrics, general surgery, oncology, emergency care and ambulatory services. Lutes is also responsible for advancing a culture of innovation and excellence, while bringing best practices for efficiency and effective care delivery across the market. He is deeply connected to Bon Secours’ mission and is exceptionally skilled with complex health care system operations in diverse markets and has demonstrated a real strength in establishing community partnerships. He looks forward to continuing to work collaboratively and transparently with community partners to meet the community need. Lutes holds a Master of Health Administration degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and health care management from Appalachian State University in North Carolina.


Christopher Accashian
Chief Operating Officer

Christopher Accashian has served as chief operating officer (COO) of the Bon Secours Richmond market since July 2020. Since joining the ministry in 2016, he has also served as the president of Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center and Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital. Prior to joining Bon Secours, Accashian served in a variety of leadership roles within Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). Accashian earned a Master of Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, a Medline Scholar and chapter president of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Virginia.

Peter Charvat
Peter Charvat, M.D.
Chief Clinical Officer

Peter Charvat, M.D., serves as the chief clinical officer (CCO) for the Bon Secours Richmond market. Dr. Charvat brings more than 20 years of experience to the ministry as a physician executive, including serving most recently as chief medical officer and vice president of St. Joseph’s Hospitals in Tampa. Dr. Charvat earned his medical degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and his master’s degree in health administration from the University of Colorado Denver. He is board certified in emergency medicine and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
Cassie Lewis

Cassie Lewis
Chief Nursing Officer

Cassie Lewis, DNP, ACNP-BC, serves as the chief nursing officer for the Bon Secours Richmond market. She has held a variety of leadership positions since joining Bon Secours in 2012. During the last 12 years, she has served as the chief quality officer for the Providence Group within Bon Secours Mercy Health, regional director of advanced practice, and lead nurse practitioner and co-medical director of St. Mary’s Hospitalist Group in the Bon Secours’ – Richmond market. Most recently she served as the chief nursing and quality officer for the Bon Secours Hampton Roads market. Lewis earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, her master’s degree from the University of Virginia and her doctorate degree in nursing practice from Old Dominion University.
