We recruit year-round for our Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program in Richmond, Va. 2. Application fee, down payment and/or tuition:

Fees and Tuition

The fee and tuition structure is as follows:

  • $50 non-refundable CPE application fee (please submit with CPE application)
  • $100 down payment to hold the CPE position offered – this cost counts toward tuition
  • $600 tuition: CPE Extended Unit (part-time) and CPE Hybrid Summer Internship (semi-full time) – payment plans are available
  • There is no tuition cost for the CPE residency program.

Candidate Eligibility

Requirements for admission to CPE programs include but are not limited to:

  • A completed ACPE application
  • An admission interview with a qualified interviewer to determine readiness for clinical learning
  • Either graduation from high school/completion of a GED or ordination by a religious/spiritual tradition or commission to function in spiritual care by an appropriate religious/spiritual authority as determined by ACPE
  • Fulfillment of education or experience requirements established by the ACPE accredited center
  • Satisfactory completion of hospital onboarding requirements
  • A signed Use of Clinical Materials Consent Form
  • For the CPE residency program, we prefer candidates who have already completed 1 unit of CPE. Also, we prioritize candidates who have earned at least a bachelor’s degree and who possess a Master of Divinity or theological equivalent. However, our commitment to diversity allows us to make exceptions for candidates with a less traditional career path.
